2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

 

 

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. 2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

 

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. 4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

 

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Question about PAP (picture and picture) does this exist of the TV's I have had a hunt for it, and cant find it. Spec's indeed say its there. Sound sync still drops out after time when attached to a sound bar via optical, I also notice there is a longer delay between the tv turning on and the sound bar waking up since the last update. I'm going to test with just the tv, and see what the lip sync is like. The real question I'm starting to ask myself, is all this is really worth the hassle, Sony don't care all they want is for us to roll over like good little puppies and shut up. I rang Sony about the XXX issue and there response, no one else has said anything. What's the point if you are not interested in what customers are finding. I have seen a few members on here finally give up and return their sets. I'm starting to understand why.

Does anyone know if you can set a background on the home screen? Also does anyone know when the WWE network app will be available?

Mine has picked up a new habit following the latest update. It has a blank screen for 10-15 seconds, though sounds does kick in. Sometimes the screen doesn't kick in at all and I have to do a full reset to get it working again. Anyone else had this problem? Also the Amazon Prime App is near unusable, the videos judder and lag. The PS4 app works fine. Anyone experienced this?

Hi all, Here I am with my hallway update. I just found out the engineering team is finalizing another update that would fix some slowness when switching/operating the TV and also would further enhance the YouTube app and it's stability. The expected release is early next week. I will let you know when it is imminent and as always try to find out full list of fixes when closer to time. Have a nice weekend, Nico

Cool Nico, thx. But we would love to see 5.1 support fixed for both digital tv and apps :slight_smile:

Hi, @tcviper, they are working hard on that, I am sure. @psp888, I can't give you more info then published on our support website. It says Summer so coming soon I would hope. (although in the UK we sometimes wonder when summer will start right? ;-)) @Dtay91, I am not aware whether or not this channel will be made available on the AndroidTv. Did you see that advertised somewhere? Did you check Google Store? Cheers Nico
