Sony Xperia 1 II Dual Sim 5G and 4G

Hi,

I want to ask, why in the world would Sony activate an option where if Sim1 is activated on 5G, the Sim2 wont work at all. Unless both sims are working on 4G.

Is it a modem issue or a software issue ? has anyone found a work around of this ?? 

i mean if i have 5G on my Sim1, i dont want my Sim2 to be turned offf... let it be on on atleast 4G,,, or 3G .... or 2G ......uggghhh what logic is this Sony.. i love ur products but........

It says on the website that both SIMs should be allowed to make and receive calls at the same time, only the 5G access is restricted to only one of them at a time.

Have they ever worked, as in both receiving and making calls, or does it always completely disable the second SIM once one has 5G access?

MediaTek declined to respond to Qualcomm’s comments but told Android Authority that its publicly shared information regarding 5G+5G dual-SIM remains accurate.

We also asked Huawei regarding its plans for dual-SIM 5G technology and phones, but the company refused to comment. Samsung has also declined to comment on its plans for dual SIM 5G support in Exynos chipsets.

Qualcomm’s confirmation that it’s working on 5G+5G dual-SIM support means we should expect to see the tech in many more phones. After all, there aren’t many phones powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity chipsets right now.

The US chip designer didn’t reveal a timeline for dual SIM 5G tech in its chipsets though, but we’re guessing that it’s not in 2020. The new Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset doesn’t support it, nor does the Snapdragon 690 scheduled to appear in phones later this year.

To avoid frustration better stick with 4G.

THat is dual 5G.. what i want to know is.. why does the second sim be turned off just cuz the first sim uses 5G ??

i have had dual sims earlier and Sim 1 4G and Sim 3G or even 2G.. but that didnt mean the Sim 2 had to be switched off.. that kills the use of having a dual sim phone.

what if i always wanna be on 5G ?? that means my Sim 2 would always be off .. so whats the point in having a dual sim phone then >??

my question is.. is it a Software restriction or hardware ??

I think it's hardware, from what Strampke mentioned above and other related topics found online, they seem to not have perfected the 5G support for Dual SIM models.

ok yes its an hardware issue.. for Dual 5G. but what about 1 sim 5g and other sim 4G or 3G even.

why cant the other sim just stay on. thats my question. i dont want Dual 5G. i just want my other sim to stay on if my first sim is on 5G

Indeed, it should.

Maybe a software update could resolve this.
