I need to roll back my Xperia 1 to Android 9, because the Android 10 update is broken beyond acceptability.
Is there anything Sony Mobile can do to help in making this as painless as possible? I basically need to do a software repair but with the last Android 9 build released.
If not, I'm going to have to go back to my old phone and go through a world of BS to get a refund for the Xperia 1 (I have to prove to the retailer the phone cannot be repaired, which is a nightmare).
what did the update break? Did you perform a hard reset?
It broke:
* The app switcher. When pressing Home button, open apps disappear from the list until another app is opened. Some apps get stuck in the list even after closing them
* Color Management often fails to initialize when booting the phone, causing grossly oversaturated color, too high gamma, and blueish grayscale
* The phone sometimes becomes unresponsive in bundled apps, e.g. Chrome
* Increased battery consumption
* Poorly chosen font style for the app titles (should be slightly condensed) (Google's fault)
* Poorly chosen colors in light/dark themes (maybe Google's fault)
I am going to attempt a full system restore, but I have doubts it will solve any of the above.
