Google Lens app doesn't work

I have the Google Lens app on my Xperia 1 but it won't work. Since I got the phone, it just says the following everytime I tap to open it:

Thanks for updating. Lens will be available soon. Please try again later.

Well I've tried two months later and it's still the same! Is it because they haven't made it available for the Xperia 1 yet or is it just an issue with my phone or settings?
