Z5 Premium Dual - static hissing, rebooting phone, how to Warranty?

Tearing my hair out here and hoping someone can help...

I bought a Z5 Premium Dual in October from a reputable eBay shop in the US to replace my Z3+ dual on which the screen had died.

Last week the Z5 started to make some static/hissing/white noise out of the speaker, a few hours later I could not answer or make calls - it would just reboot. I tried some reboots, I factory reset the device, but it still will not work. It sits there making a continual but weak hissing noise.

I tried to contact the seller for warranty, no luck. It is out of the 30 days eBay return and out of the 90 days PayPal dispute zone. However, it is still in warranty. So I contacted Sony support chat, I was told they cannot repair the device as the 'dual' is international and needs to be sent to Saudi Arabia.

I could not discern the Saudi Arabia support (as it's in Arabic) on the Sony site but endeavoured to submit a contact request via - https://www.sony-mea.com/section/contactushttps://www.sony-mea.com/section/contactus - this when submitting (and not working via Firefox) goes to a page unavailable.

Can anyone help with how to contact support to get this device repaired/replaced?

Any help/advice hugely appreciated.

Cheers,

Graeme.

Hi @geefin, I'm sorry to hear about your phone. Slightly_frowning_Face

It does sound like it may be hardware related, but prior to having it sent for service, could you try to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion just to see if it's software related?

Should the hiss persist, please PM me your IMEI and I will have a look to see which market the device belongs to and provide you with contact information to the correct Support team so that you may be assisted further. The link you provided does not concern Sony Mobile, so I'm afraid that I can't look in to as to why it is not available; and in any case it is the wrong support team to turn to.

Let me know your IMEI (don't post it in the thread, PM me please) and I'll provide you with instructions on how to proceed!

PM'd

The software repair made no difference sadly Slightly_frowning_Face

Would just like to know who/how/where to send this as it's still waaaay inside it's warranty.

Sadly I appear to be getting nowhere slowly here.

After going round in circles with support - they just supply local shop phone numbers, no address or email to contact, telling me to 'go in' and sort it out - Saudi Arabia is 10,000 miles from me! They gave me a number to call and that number is out of service.

Really unsure what to do here. I have a 2 month old phone, in warranty, but it's a brick. An expensive brick. And Sony Support aren't giving me any help in where to send it to/return it to for warranty/repair/replacement Slightly_frowning_Face

Can anyone help with any ideas? Slightly_frowning_Face
