Z3 black screen

Hey all, today i unlocked my screen and opened up the sms app. The screen went totally black and Android running in the back ground. The phone vibrates when i touch the screen but no respons from the screen. I booted it with vol+power button, did not help. I ran the sony connect application on my pc and got the phone reset and upgraded my software. Nothing helped, it does not seem to be a software issue. Any ideas anyone? Phone is 2 weeks old... First one i got missed a corner, so i had to exchange that one and got a new one. And now this, im getting really pissed off. First time iv tried sony, and seems to be the last... Ideas are welcome, i really dont wanna gomdown yet again! Ves78.

I bought my z3 lunch time today, worked fine, but then noticed a glitch in the corner of the screen thought notbing of it at first, black screen by 5, still fully functioning software wise, can take pictures using the camera button and move things on home page but the screen shows nothing except a small amount of backlight on reboot

My girlfriend had the same problem. The problem is in Proximity Sensor. This is the sensor for closing screen when you having a call. We also try to reboot the phone but it didnt help. But somehow we manage to make it work. Grinning_Face

I have that from time to time by itself or on purpose. It is as if like drawing a curtain. It is black in colour and it works like a curtain rolling down. And I could get rid of it by just touching it i.e by swiping upward and the screen revealed, all came back to normal. I thought it was a feature to cover something important or private which you didn't want people to look at it or to know.

i had my Z3 for a week and a day before i got my my PS4 my phone decided to do the whole Black screen thing, its been more than a month without my phone and if the company that i bought my phone from does replace my phone, then what am i supposed to do?

i know it cannot be a software problem. Sony set an expectation and im trying to live up to the standard they advertised, right now im extremly disappointed. i doubt that ill continue with sony, its been a great 2 years using their phones up untill a month ago.

Had endless problems with the Z3, all hardware related. Replaced the phone under insurance 4 times now, as sony can say the problem is my fault and then charge me a £20 handling fee. Absolutely ridiculous, I'd say they have been lucky that they haven't faced a class action lawsuit! Will NEVER use a sony phone ever again and will never suggest someone else gets one, unless they like sitting on the phone to customer services....

Had my z3 replaced twice with insurance for cracked screen. Had gel case and gorilla glass screen protector too. First time was 2 days after I got it. Couldn't quite put my finger on how I cracked it and I just assumed it was my fault. It cost me $180 per claim through telstra stay connected.
Then the front screen cracked a third time. I didn't drop it or squash it in my pocket. I was so careful with it.
I needed this phone fixed asap as I use it for work but because I had used up my 2 insurance claims for the year I ended up going to a phone repair shop and getting a new screen for $150.

Then 3 months later the front screen cracked for the fourth for no apparent reason.
Still out of insurance claims so it was back to repair shop again for another $150.
2 months later the power button and volume keys have stopped working so now I can't wake the phone up. Took the phone out of its case and I find the rear glass cracked. Has not been dropped!!!

Set the display for double tap wake up but now it gets this Black screen death sleep and you can't wake it up.
I am sick off this crap!!!
Now I find out that the screen cracking on its own is a common thing and Sony knows about it.
I want a replacement under warranty asap.
I still have 8 months to go with 2 yr contract.
Its an awesome phone when it's not broken but that's not fricken good enough!!!

Everybody is like, "I have a z3" "My girl frined has a z3" and the screen is dead , bla bla. The guy has posted the problem, I don't care if you have the same problem, if you have the solution POST it! Why waste time and space in this thread?

As for the smart guys who suggested to use PC companion , Hello? you don't think people who come to a forum asking a solution has already tried pretty much everything he/she could?

And for the guy who suggested to take the phone to a repair? Hello? Are you out of your mind? Do you really think that is a suggestion people come here looking for? That would be the "dumbest" category suggestion.

Sony has put aside a little webspace at http://talk.sonymobile.com for guys like you and me to come and cry about problems we face with sony devices and thats it. They don't care, i dont' see no Sony Emoployee or a moderator responding to any of the questions or problems posted here?

A flagship costs around $700, one could buy two decent laptops with that money yet these little piece of called Android phones break or become unusable within couple of years. Changing a screen will cost atleast $150. With that money one could buy a brand new device. This means, instead of buying an expenssive  flagship, you could buy 4 ie FOUR brand new phones within 2 years, imagine that is like buying a brand new phone every 6 months.

People need to stop spendning money on these little suckers. With a $200 phone if it breaks in two years, oh forget it, if it breaks in 6 months you could throw it away without feeling bad at all. And that is exactly what I am going to do now on.

Screw Sony, Samsung or any other player out there.
