Xperia Z5 Hard Reset Issue

Hi there,

I am trying to recycle my old Z5 compact. But to do so I need to hard reset it. Unfortunately, I don't remember the pass pattern to get into it in order to do this. I've tried the Xperia Companion method but unfortunately that just asks me to unlock it before it allows me to repair. I'm also unable to long into my old sony account and google will not let me unlock it remotely. Does anyone have any magical tricks or is this just destined to rot in my drawer forever? I don't care about the data on it I just want to reset it.

I know some phones will automatically reset after a number of failed pattern attempts but so far I'm on attempt 17 and no luck yet.

Hi @Fernbear, welcome to our forum!

If you turn the device off and disconnect if from your computer to start with. Start Xperia Companion and click on "Software repair" in the next step at the bottom left you will see a little check box (there is a text next to it that says "if you can't be found or can't be powered on) > check this box and click on "Next" in the bottom right corner and you should be able to proceed with the repair.

You will be asked to connect the device to your computer again after a while and just follow the on-screen instructions on how to do that and let the repair finish.

I hope that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face
