Xperia Z5 encryption and fingerprint unlock

hi all

i am considering encrypting my phone to access work emails.

however i read one of the cons for encrpytion (at least for prior Android versions) was encrypting the phone disable to fingerprint unlock function.

has anyone encrypted their Z5 and is able to unlock the phone using the fingerprint sensor?

As far as I know the fingerprint function will work with an encrypted device. What can cause the fingerprint to not be selectable as a screen lock is the server policy, to make sure what policies your account has I'd recommend contacting a network administrator.

Hi @ril3k1,

Is your work e-mail using Exchange Activesync?

There is no limitation in the phone that prevents you to not be able to unlock your phone using fingerprint while your device is encrypted. In this case I would recommend that you contact the network administrator of your company or organisation to check what network security policies are implemented for mobile devices.

thank you for the reply.

exchange activesync is ok. i am refering to Google mail.

I take it the current android version 6.0.1 is able to support fingerprint unlock after phone encryption?
