Xperia Z accepts charge for a few seconds then stops charging. Help!

Regardless if its connected to poweroutlet, car charger or computer, it will accept charge for a few seconds to few minutes then it will stop charging. It doesnt seem to be a faulty power jack because the computer detects the phone is connected even after it stops charging. I have tried different cable but nothing helps. I have also reset the device with wipe/clean. The operating system is uptodate as well. Any help will be appreciated as I have gone to the sony service center already and they blame it on a faulty power jack, which is not the case as I have already explained.

Regards

Xperia User

You could try to repair it yourself but it will void the warranty, if any, you could buy a new battery and test it, batteries won't be able to hold charge as good as new, and since your phone its more than 2 years old, it makes sense.

Perhaps the problem it's the battery itself, contact your Local support to get the device inspected.

The battery has shown very little degradation of life over the last few years I have owned it. Yesterday I managed to charge it after 10+ attempts because of the problem and it went up to full 100%. 20 hours later its down to 70% after mild usage. I'm not sure whats going on but he local sony support guys wants to charge me $200 to change the power jack when its obvious thats not where the problem is.

Solved Finally -  (from another forum)                                                                /t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/Sony-Xperia-Z-Dead-won-t-turn-on-won-t-charge-PC-doesn-t/td-p/425497/page/7

I have been using my Sony Xperia Z for more that a Year or more and suddenly two days back it stopped after I left it at zero percent battery one night. and then on it was not turning on, no matter how long I was having my phone on charge.  I saw many blogs and posts for suggestions.

But none worked and finally I thought to try out the docking station port for charging. But I didnt have a dock station for my phone.

1. So I took an old USB cable I had and cut it open.

2. Took the red and black wire.

3. Connected the red(+) to the upper point and black(-) to the lower charge point just with an insulation tape.

4. After 5-10 mins boom, sony logo came on and the device was back on.

5. Then after 2% conencted my normal charger.

6. All works fine then on.

For me hard reset, hard reboot , boot loader mode nothing worked. But this one did. Cheers!!!

Hello what exactly do you mean when you say take red and connect to upper side and black to lower?

I was talking on the phone for about 20-30 minutes, when I turned call off the phone was very hot. I walked into another room and someone commented on my red ear! By the next day my ear was very sore and blistered. By 2 days I had 3rd degree burns on my ear. Seen by a medic now and very sore but hopefully healing. What's wrong with my mobile phone??? I can send a pic if needed. They took pics in clinic in case of infection or need for graft later on. 😔
