Hi, I have the same problem with my z5 compact. Side door shut, had to jump into a pool to help out with the kids in a minor emergency. Phone in my pocket...no problem. It's a sony. But the interior was flooded. I've contacted "local support" for help.

It was definately advertised as waterproof when I bought it.

@DizMatt @Olyx Water Resistant only i'm afaraid......contacting your local support is the only way forward i'm afraid, be sure to insist on a Vacuum Test if possible

an IP68 unit should be resistant to these things and I'm pretty sure that it was advertised as such when I bought it.

Durability
Waterproof and dust tight (IP65 and IP68)**** Yes lots of caveats at the end...which completely contradict the rating advertised. So waterproof...just ...urrm...not in any practical way.

Sony's marketing went to great legnths to downplay the IP68 rating and it's meaning.. and effectively saying the phone should not be submersed.

Which also generated a lot of forum comments at the time over if they were saying their phones were no longer water proof.

yes, I had the phone replaced under insurance.

The waterproof rating in real-world settings is frankly meaningless on the Compact X5
