Weak network signal

Evening all,

I'm currently using the Sony Xperia Z3+ in the UK on the EE network. All has been great up until November / December last year when the network signal has decreased from the usual 4 bars to 1 - 2 bars at best (usually 1 though). When i reported this initially to EE there was a mast down in the area which was causing issues, however i've been told that the masts in the area are now fixed but i still have the same problem which means i get occasional dropped calls and although i have a 4G signal no data is sent or received over it when attempting to use it most of the time. I'm not convinced that EE are being honest with me in regards to the masts in my area as my partner also gets the same problem in same model of handset.

Now, i'm sure i updated my phone around the time my issues started as well, so thought i'd ask whether anyone else has had similar issues since the last few Android updates?

Thanks,

Darren

try to change your network type. go to settings>more>mobile networks>network type. set to 3g only . does it detect average to full bars?

if it does. then it must be that there is a weaker 4g signal in your area. your devices detects the fastest connection instead of the strongest one. if your settings is 4Gpreffered then it will connect to that signal even it has only 1-2 signals instead of having 3-4 signals of 3g.

however, I suggest to check with your network, try to see if you can get a new replacement sim, or observe your device while on safe mode

Hi @darren221980,

I'm sorry to hear about that. Slightly_frowning_Face

Do you experience the same weak signal at other places as well? Or is it better when you are for example, in a bigger city?

As @nolramlb mentioned, if you are in an area with a weaker 4G signal that may explain why you don't more than 1 or 2 bars when connected to 4G. I would recommend changing your preferred network type to 3G/WCDMA and see if you get a better reception.

If you have the possibility to try another SIM card in your phone, preferably from a different operator since your partner experience the same behaviour with the same network provider that would be great.

Let us know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face
