Hi,
I've been using the stock Google Messenger app for texting without any problems for over a year now.
Since the 7.1.1 update (and besides the RAM and battery issues that came with it, hopefully resolved by safe mode boot -> reboot), whenever I receive an image via MMS, tapping on it opens it to fit the screen but I can't zoom in anymore like I used to, by pinching. I have to save it to the gallery, and open it there in order to zoom. Good thing however is that now, opening a pic in a conversation gives access to a mini-gallery of all images sent in that conversation (similar to Whatsapp's for example), which didn't exist before.
But having to save each pic to the gallery in order to zoom in is a real pain, and a basic function that should not have been scrapped! Is there anyone else with that issue, and do you know if the stock app is modified by Sony or is the standard Google version?
Thanks for your help!
I can confirm this - not the kind of "improvement" one wants in updates, but experience shows that it is what can be expected ...
I'm not keen on this basic function being removed either. I just searched to see if there was a work around and found your thread. I use the phones standard message system/app and have this issue since I updated about 2 months ago. I like the mini gallery, not the forced saving to zoom.... I realised I have the habit of zooming in on every photo I get 😝
Same problem here is there a fix yet its a pain having to save to gallery then zoom in
just to look at a pictures
