Unable to send/receive messages after updating to 5.1.1

Yesterday I updated my phone to 5.1.1 and am unable to send receive messages on my phone. I get lot of important messages. Please help me with this.

I updated through pc companion suite. Did normal update and restarted my phone. Please let me know how to fix.

Does it work on safe mode?

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop
1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu 
3. press and hold "power off" 
4. Boot on safe mode should become available

Happened to me also after updating to 5.1.1., did u restored backup from PC via PCC after updating?

If yes, repair your phone (internal data will be wiped) with PCC, and restore backup but DESELECT - Settings, Data etc... its bugging messaging.

Today I will try doing this. I haven't taken any back up since data doesn't get wiped out. Today I will take back up and try repair option. Thanks for suggestion. Hope it works.

I tried repairing and then i checked, message send/receive was working. However, once i restored my back up, it was not working again. I did factory reset again, and using my phone as new phone.. Installing all apps again nw..  messages working now..

It's a third party app causing this problem

Yeah true.. Hard to find out which one.. However m happy with it.. Internal memory is free n I put new memory card.. Basically it's like new handset nw for me.. It's working fine now..

I have installed all apps that I had before problem, and messaging kept working (after factory reset and app reinstall)... 

btw, create backup now, when its working, with PC Companion, and with "backup and restore" sony app.
