Hi there
Please can someone give me some advice. I got my Z5 Compact yesterday but it seems there is something wrong with it. If I try to phone somebody they cant hear me on the other side. I can hear them perfectly but they dont hear me...
Thanks
Hi @Thinus_Human,
Could you test your phone's microphone in Diagnostics and see if it works then? You can find Diagnostics by going to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics, then choose Test, find and tap Microphone and follow the instructions on screen to test it.
If it works in Diagnostics, does it work if you make a call in safe mode?
Hi
I just did the diagnostics test on the mic but it seems the mic is not working. If I speak in the mic and try to listen to it again I hear nothing. The thing that bothers me is if I dial someone I cn talk to them if phone is on loud speaker then it seems fine but if I switch off the loud speaker they cant hear me
Also if I try to record a answering machine message I cannot hear any playback
This has been discussed a lot of times on the forums, a simple search would have lead you to the following:
- After 5.1 update, some 3rd party apps might take control of your mic and not releasing it when phone app needs it. Of these apps: call recording apps, Skype, and others.
- Also, sometimes when "OK Google" detection is set to work from any screen, disable it from Apps drawer -> Google Settings -> Search & Now -> Voice -> "OK Google" detection.
Hi Quester
Sorry for the stupidity..:smileycry:
I am not as clued up as the rest of you all. This is my first Xperia phone. I just really want to have it fixed.
I also tried what you said now and still it wont work...
@Thinus_Human Don't worry about it, in the end we're here to help out best we can no matter what.
If it doesn't work in safe mode either (third party apps are temporarily disabled in safe mode) then I suggest that you contact your retailer directly, or that you get in touch with your Local support team for information on how to proceed with this.
I'm very sorry if I made you feel this way, didn't mean to
We just want to encourage fellow users to read those forums guidelines and search for existing solutions before posting a new thread about it. Welcome to the community and please accept my apologies.
Guys thanks for the replies
It unfortunately looks like I got my first Xperia and it does not even work. Maybe I should just have stayed with my Samsung galaxy. It seems this phone is to complicated for the normal guy on the street...
I an disappointed
I think it's totally the opposite, Xperia UI is known to be one of the most "vanilla" experience of Android, with minor addons from Sony. Just try my suggestions (especially the OK Google part) and let us know. You can always visit the nearest Local support to get help as per Christofer's post.
I have already disabled the "OK Google" thing and it still does not work .Also tried the safe mode suggestion but the mic does not work in any of these suggestions so it must be broken...
Sorry guys
