Hi,
I have a Sony Z3 which has been water damaged and now has a broken screen, by that I mean completely blank. I have taken it to a repair shop who after putting it in a solution and replacing the screen still haven't been able to bring it back to life.
The phone is still working in the background as the little notification LED still flashes and the sound is still on. I need to get access to backup contacts and photos but USB debugging isn't enabled. I have tried NFC to connect to my Bravia but that doesn't work either.
I have read that an MHL multi-connector with HDMI is one way to display on my TV and connect a mouse so that I can use the phone to transfer data to an SD card but everywhere I look they all say that you can not use the USB input and HDMI output at the same time.
I have a Z5 premium coming as a replacement and need to get the data off for transfer.
Can anyone please help.
Adam

Thanks for the reply uliwooly,
Yes, the phone is still working in the background. More by luck than judgment I have been able to connect to the phone.
I have used an OTG cable to connect a keyboard, unlocked the phone and as luck has it the digitizer was still working. So when I connected the phone to my laptop and the "Switch To MTP mode" message came up, I guessed where I should press the screen and it worked. It also helped that I have another working Z3, which helped me guess correctly.
I think I may go and put some numbers on the lottery and on to my Z5.
Thanks for your help.

MHL plus a bluetooth mouse might work. not tested though.
You could try to call your phone, if it rings then the phone is still working, if it doesn't then it's highly unlikely that you will get any data from it.
