Hello all,
I bought a brand new Sony Xperia Z3 back in December, 2015. It has been running fine ever since, apart from the fact my unit came with a touchscreen with a small, unresponsive strip.
So far, I have never performed a deep charge cycle on the device. I also bought a genuine Sony 5,000 mAh portable USB power supply to extend the battery supply.
My charging habits include maintaining the battery between 60-70% for one week, then 70-80% for the other. I have only charged the battery from 80-96% when I first purchased the device.
The battery charging status would say "30 mins until full" when charging from 63%. On certain occasions when the battery temperature would reach 40 Celsius, it would require a little longer to charge - perhaps the power management algorithms and circuitry protecting the battery.
This week, however, I noticed that it would require me 1.3 hours to increase the battery charge by 17 percent. I am still using the Sony battery pack, along with the supplied, original Sony USB cable (10 cm long).
To rule out the possibility of a faulty power supply, I tried charging my Z3 with the provided 1.5 ampere charger, with the 10 cm cable. It required roughly the same time to charge.
What really surprised me was the fact that even after charging for 1.3 hours, I had 4 bars illuminated on the power bank (4 bars mean the capacity is between 100-75%).
If I ever let my battery pack charge my previous Xperia Z1 for 1.3 hours, the capacity would drop down to 1 bar.
For some odd reason, the battery life on my Z3 has increased ever since this slow charging problem appeared.
I would appreciate it if a Sony representative could investigate this issue, and inform me whether this is a software bug, or a defective battery. However, I doubt this is a defective battery since, but a software bug since even after charging for more than an hour, my power bank's capacity has never preceded 75%.
I downloaded Ampere from the Play Store, and found out the device is accepting 300mA from the charger.
This had me worried bacause my previous Z1 displayed the same issue back in November, 2015. Initially, it would take a very long time to charge from 40% to 100% (over 12 hours). Then, I noticed sudden drops in battery life, for instance from 80 to 60%, and 50 to 0%. The battery was also slightly swollen.
Many thanks!
My brother used my charger for his Samsung mobile then when I used it... It seems that my mobile screen shows that the battery needs 15hr for complete charge !!. And that's already happens .... How can I fix this problem???
