I bought myself a Sony Xperia Z3 on 25/01/2014. Everything was fine till one day (27/05/2014) I noticed a bit of a condensation on the camera lens on what is a waterproof phone. I was disappointed and took it to the Sony service center in Indiranagar, Bangalore called Sonnet Care. They were **bleep** bent on telling me that this was a defect and they could fix it while I was very clear in asking them for a replacement. Anyways, I agreed and they informed me that there is an adhesive seal on the back plate of the thing that was not doing its job and they replaced the faulty part free of cost. Clearly this was a manufacturing defect and something you dont expect from Sony of all brands.
Just yesterday morning I woke up to another horror story with the phone and I was absolutely frustrated when I saw that part of the screen has just popped out of the frame. I was absolutely gutted to see it. You spend INR40000+ on a phone and this is what you get with less than a year of ownership.
I contacted Sonnet Care again and they are again adamant on repairing what clearly is a phone with a manufacturing defect. And in less than a year I have the second job number with Sony service (W115122104761)
I have made it very clear to them that according to the warranty terms and condtions supplied with the box, Sony clearly says that it is up to the discretion of the service center to ascertain the extent of the defect (if it is a manufacturing defect) which in my case it clearly is! They still want to repair a faulty device and want me to run out of warranty. What makes it so difficult for them to replace my faulty device or give me a refund for something that has clearly happened due to a manufacturing defect. I am by all means now eligible for a refund which I now prefer or a complete replacement of the device. Can Sony support respond to my query on the same please?
Thank @Phy I contacted the local support like you suggested. But I find it tricky when Sony says it is at the dicretion of the service center. However they also said that if they refuse to give a refund/replacement, they could escalate. I am not so convinced by that.
Contacted the Sony customer service in India through all means phone, email and chat. All they want me to do is to contact the service center. Contacted the service center and all they want me to do is to contact Sony customer service for what clearly is a faulty device that can be easily replaced by Sony. I am so disappointed to the point I will never ever buy a Sony product EVER!!
Sony customer service does not live upto the mark. I do not recommend their mobile phones as serviceability to customer satisfaction is not a standard for Sony anymore. The service costs itself are very high. Their "repair" is equal to "replace" which costs more once warranty expires. I had same problem of top left side of display screen popping out. Sony should recall the handsets and replace or refund the amount.
