Hey guys!
I've had my z5c for 2 years and 8 months. The phone was shutting down indicating a low battery when I had 60%. Seeing the forums as a battery warping issue, I went to a phone store, had them send a genuine sony battery to replace. This surely did help, first few weeks it was great. Now after about 3 weeks, when the battery sits at around 20% it shuts down automatically. Also to note that if it dies sub 20%, it will attempt to boot but fail until it passes 20% of charge.
Post battery replacement, I have formatted the phone and have very limited apps installed like facebook and instagram. No performance tampering apps.
Any ideas?
Sounds like the battery wasn't calibrated before being fitted.
Try safe mode and fully deplete battery.
Fully charge then power on.
Once on, hold volume up + power for ten seconds until you feel 3 vibrations.
Power on.
See if it's fixed
Thanks for the suggestion.
I've done as suggested and that has helped with the early shut downs. However now I have a different issue.
At random timea, my phone will crash and automatically reset regardleas of percentage. For instance when I am watching a video or click on a facebook notification it would shut down and reset.
This seems to be a familiar problem now. Phone is 2 years and 8 months old.
*Phone shuts down at any point round the 50% battery mark or under.
*Also crashes commonly when using apps (fb, insta, wechat, gumtree) or even chrome at random moments.
*Often has trouble rebooting and have to see the white load screen about 4 or 5 times for it to boot properly, when not charged.
*When it is plugged to a charger, it boots fine.
*Also shuts down around 50% battery even on safe mode. (Less frequent than normal mode)
Let me explain what I have tried.
*Went to a repairer at my local Westfield, they ordered a genuine Sony battery and replaced it.
*Calibrated the battery by draining it from Safe Mode then charging back
*Tried to repair from Xperia Companion (Says: Software error mid way "UEStartNoMorePorts")
*Reset phone
*Refitted the simcard in case it was loose
I have viewed a lot of forums and the issue is very evident. A lot of victims but no answers, I'm guessing they are still either on constant worry or have just replaced their Xperia(s) with something else.
Is there any direction in solving besides moving on?
Remy
I've merged your posts since it's all related. It seems that you've done everything, how come you didn't contacted Sony directly >>> Local support to get it inspected?
I got my battery replaced last week and since then its stuck at 20%. I have tried the method of VOlume up and off key till 3 vibrations , yellow button and off button combinations several times, but to no avail.
Please help.
I also have the kind of problem. I got my battery health tested in the system testing mode but the results sais that my battery is fine.
My phone will suddenly shut down while there is still 67% of battery.
If I have to take a local sony support it would take weeks to test and solve. Is there any else we can do? Or just stop lying to myself that there is still hope for my sony Z5?
