Pop up ads

So my Sony Z3 had been having some technical problems. Lately I have been getting pop up adds on my phone regardless of what app is opened.  Sometimes it turns the phone on without me knowing causing a loss of battery. I don't even need any apps open for adds to pop up. When I open the multi tab menu I see a tab that says sponsored ( with the adds), The logo is Facebook messenger. I have tried everything, even to the point of factory reset. But nothing works thanks

Hi @WickedSkyler, sorry to hear about this.

After you performed a factory reset on your device, did you install any applications again? I have seen that there are some non official versions of for example, Facebook Messenger in the Google Play store that contain ads.

You can also restart your device in safe mode, just to make sure that a third party application is the cause of these ads, as these applications will be temporarily deactivated in this mode.

If you have a lot of open tabs in Google Chrome, you can try closing them down as well. To do that, open up the Chrome application > tap the little square icon with a number inside of it and tap the three dots in the top right corner > Close all tabs.
