Phone does not charge (or connect)

Hi all,
I own a Xperia Z3 Compact which I take good care of. Sadly, last week I droped it in water - only for a few seconds. Nothing bad happened and the phone was looking to be working perfectly after that, which is normal, it is supposed to be waterproof after all !
But when I wanted to charge it later, the connection was not recognized by the phone.
I tried different chargers and different electrical outlet- still nothing. No charging light, nothing.
I thought that the battery or the connector must have been damaged during the dive.
But then I used the forced reboot procedure (power button + volume up for some seconds) while plugged to the charger, and when I restart it, it was charging.
Basically I have to do this procedure again everytime I want to charge my phone or to connect it to the computer. This is quite annoying.

I restored my phone to factory settings but it does not solve the issue. the phone is not under warranty no more.
Do you know how I can fix it for good ?

Thanks a lot

Hi @Fkessler,

Welcome to the community,

I am sorry to hear about this. In this case, it is hard to say what the issue is related to, this could be software orientated or it could indeed be because of the dive in the water.

You could attempt running through a software repair on the device, however, if this does not resolve it you would likely be looking at hardware and in that case you are best to speak with Customer Care about, they will be able to provide the best course of action.

software repair using Xperia Companion

Let us know how you get on.

Hi,
Thanks for this answer.
Sadly I can't use the software repair as the Xperia companion software is not compatible with Windows Vista anymore and I have vista on my computer...

Do you by chance have a friend or family member who might be able to help in this case, as this is definitely the best option to take before moving on to another resolution.

Yes Okay I will try with a friend's computer and will let you know !

I can understand that this would be frustrating, hopefully, another PC has worked for you. Good luck Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi,
I tried, the repair proces went succesfully but it did not solve my issue. My phone is still not charging or connecting unless I force reboot it each time.
I have now the choice of sending it to Sony or trying to open it by myself...
