Notification badge / counter

Some apps, such as SMS Facebook and email, have a yellow notification badge on its app icon.

What takes to enable the badge for other apps?  such as Whatsapp

Thanks.

Hi xwaiz,

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

With the information supplied, I can advise that the Badge counter is based on the default home screen, you would be required to download an alternative Homescreen launcher to be able to add a counter badge to other apps.

I suggest having a look on the Play store, try looking up Nova or Notifyer, from what I am aware they allow badge counters on apps.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice.

Wish Sony can extend its badge function to all apps, instead of relying on additional app to complete it.

Jake. I'm increasingly getting frustrated by incorrect badge counts on my Xperia z. Is there any way to clear a certain cache to reset these counts?
The biggest issue comes from group Mms which need to be downloaded and when I do the message disappears and I'm left with a count on my badges which doesn't equate. Facebook too has unread notifications which can't be found to "read"
On the Samsung u can go to badge provider and clear the cache and it resets. Which app can I clear on the Xperia to fix this?

Hi xwaiz,

I suggest you this app that I found in the Google Play; it's name is Xperia Unread (paid).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ra3al.xperia.unread

This app is SPECIFIC for Xperia devices and addes the identic counter badge (yellow) of the Sony's firmware to ALL apps not supported by default, like GMail, Google+ and other. Now upgraded and supports Android 5.

But, with the imminent release of Android 6, now I suggest to wait and see if Sony, finally, will extend the support of counter badge for its homescreen to all apps downloadable and installable.

I hope that can be useful for you (I'm certain) and, especially, I hope that Sony can extend counter badge support to ALL apps in the future imminent firmware.

Best!

Hi,

Sorry for asking more on this topic, I don't see any notification on red number for my apps like (Email, FB), but counters works for SMS and Missed call. I don't know my app badge provider is enable or not. But I cannot find app badge provider on my sony xperia M5 to adjust it (like I used to adjust on my last xperia ZR). Please help me on this issue. Many thanks.

Marshmallow installed on my new Z5 compact last night and I can confirm that the indicators are still not working. They didn't work on my old Z3 either.

I wish this was fixed but in the meantime I'll use Notifyer+.

Same issue here, I would really like to get badges supported for all apps as Current implementation!
