No sound from loudspeaker all of a sudden

Hi guys,

All of a sudden my xperia Z loudspeaker isn't working properly. We all know how low the loudspeaker is .. But now it has gone completely low .. I literally have to hold the speaker right next to my ear to hear anything.

All the volumes are on the highest possible in settings. It was working perfectly fine this morning. I have left it in my bedroom all day and I come to use it tonight and the speaker is just extremely low. It has not been dropped or submerged.

Any replies greatly appreciated. I bought the phone on contract from Three UK in June 2014.

Thanks in advance

Boot your phone in safe mode, this way we will see if any of your 3rd party app is causing this:

Hi Alex,

Many thanks for the swift reply.

I have done as you suggested but no joy. It sounds as though the sound is being muffled.

Do you have something like microphone noise suppression or slow talk enabled?

Try to disable microphone noise suppression, see if that changes anything.

Hi Carty23

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

With the information supplied, I suggest trying the following.

Go in to Safemode

1. Turn the handset off

2. Turn the handset back when the first splash screen comes up hold down the Volume down key until it starts completely.

3.  Handset should be in Safemode.

Now test the handset , if the issue has been resolved, now turn the handset off and then back on normally and test the Loudspeaker again.

Let me know how you get on.

Alex .. THANK YOU!

I booted it in safe mode and it was still the same so I decided to tun it off and boot it back up again normal.

It's now working back to normal! I think my alarm clock will actually wake me up now!

Because it's working properly now without being in safe mode, does this mean it's not a third party app causing if? Has it just gone strange for a bit?
