No sound at the end of timer with screen off

Hi everyone. Xperia Z3 dual with new adroid marshmelow(23.5.A.1.291). The problem I'm experiencing is that the timer in the clock app does not play the sound when the screen is off (I start the timer, switch the screen off - the timer does not play sound). The moment I turn it on the sound plays. This is not the case with small app timer. Also I factory reset the phone - it did not help. Did anyone experienced similar problem and may have a solution? Thank you.

P.S. I've just checked, the timer works ok in the safe mode - may be a piece relevant information.

Welcome to the community.

Because it is working fine in safe mode this indicates that the issue is being caused by a third party app. Do you have a custom launcher or lock screen?

No no custom launcher or lock screen, everything's stock. I only insalled 5 apps (prisma, star chart, signal, office suit), but I did disable quite a few. Do you reckon that may be a problem. I disabled:

docs, drive, google play books, google play games, google play movies&tv, google play music, google play newsstand, google+, hangouts, lifelog, lounge, news&weather, photos,  weather, xperia tips.

From what I see, nothing from what I installed or disabled has anything to do with clock. But maybe I'm wrong. Any ideas?

It could be anything, including an interaction between apps that has caused this. Unfortunately there's no simple way to determine exactly what app is causing this behaviour. It's tedious, but uninstalling apps one by one is the best way to find out.

I don't know if any of the disabled apps could be the cause, but do try enabling them again and test to see if the same issue occurs.

Quick update. I checked the apps, but also checked the safe mode again (after factory reset). Turnes out the timer also goes crazy in safe mode. Any ideas what may be the problem? Firmware or hardware?

If it's happening in safe mode too then it is likely the firmware. Run a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Thank you. I had already done it. I mean last few days I was trying everything. Restored to factory settings, used Xperia companion, repaired firmware, checked stamina mode, checked app permissions. I am running out of ideas. I'm certain that the problem did not occur in Kit Kat and Lollipop.

My understanding of the problem right now is that for some reason the notification dialog box of the timer can't wake the phone from sleep. Sometimes it does but 2 minutes after the timer has finished countdown. I am pretty sure the problem lies not in my particular phone but in the firmware (there are a few cases online describing similar problems). If no solution comes to mind could you at least report the problem to software development team? Or maybe there is a solution somewhere in the settings. Thank you very much.
