I just bought the new Z2, it was great until I can't sync or back up my data to my laptop. My laptop is using Window 7 and I have updated the phone to 17.1.1.A0.402 version. Beside that I also updated the Sony PC Companion, yet nothing can I do to sync or back up to my laptop even y using wifi or usb cable (original from the box). My laptop also can't detect the Z2 device too. Please help, thank you.

Months later and i'm still having the same problem with an Xperia Z2.
Windows 10, plug it in and PC Companion does not recognize it. Device Manage sees D6503 or MTP (with debugging on), will not update drivers automatically, will not update using the file you tell us to download.
Cannot see my phone at all on the computer anymore......A fix would be nice, 6 months and still no windows 10 support??
Same here.. after 6.0.1 update the phone is not recognized by any Windows system. Tried old PC with Companion already installed (Win 7 x64), and fresh laptop that never had xperia connected before (win 8.1 x64). There's no reaction both windows or phone, no install messages or companion install prompt like it was on Lollipop.
How to introduce the phone to system on Android M ??
- the update was official, no flash or custom rom, all stock out of the box.
UPDATE: When the phone is OFF, Windows says "your device is ready to use MTP-D6503", but as soon as I turn the phone ON and Marshmallow comes to work there's another popup: "device driver installation error" "not recognized USB device".
What's wrong with "M"??
C'mon Sony no sulution here yet!!
I have no "reinstall" option on my Win 7 64, when I uninstall the device and point downloaded drivers Win says "Your driver is up to date, no installation required"
That's pointless, can't dowload photos or music.. anything.
Please find a solution or connecion bug in software.
The download from that link has no necessary softwares, not any setup at all
