Lollipop charging bug ???

After lolipop update I can't charge the phone to full, i already made a clean setup via pc companion after i resetted the phone.
My phone goes to 84% and starts blinking charging/notcharging, so finally after 10 h of charging it has only 85% of accu. Anyone had the same?

I recorded this video to show u my problem

https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=SQ6iQrqPKT4

P.S i can charge my mobile while its turned of ..
Also im sure there are no apps is consuming the battery while im charging it .

Please fix this with an update or just tell is what to do..

I have read about this issue in many forums... And in addition, I also heaed about the wifi problem.I have downloaded the lollipop update but have not installed it yet as I am afraid.. My friend did that taking risk... And wow, he is not able to charge his phone with the original charger, battery drain is superfast. Did factory data reset.. Sad!!!!

The problem is cause from original adapter cannot give enough power (it's only 1.5A).

When I change adapter to 2A, the problem is resolved. ^^

update solution

Yesterday, charging on dock with 2A adapter seemed to work very well.

However, on next day I found that charging with 2A adapter cannot solve the problem, charging on dock was still be flashed.

In the other hand, charging with direct micro usb via adapter 1.5A smoothly works.

ps. I search many previous posts on this topic, I think that the post of waterman is most reasonable. He told that the problem is not related to any hardwares or physical parts. The problem was found upper from Firmware 4.4.4 (4.4.4 still work well). When device is charged on dock, it's forced to enter docking mode. He claimed that the problem was solved after he had rooted device and then disabled docking mode.

Unfortunately, the docking mode cannot be disabled without rooting device.

sony sold this with the 1.5 amps adaptor so it should work with that adaptor

If not, Sony should fix it, but they dont

But for experiment i bought a 3 amps USB charger on Ebay; i'm sure this wont work...

will inform you when it has arrived

I still can use that 3 amps adaptor for some hobby project

I'm experiencing the same issue with my Z3C (D5803, lollipop stock rom 23.4.A.1.232).

I can't charge the phone to 100% using magnetic charging. Sometimes the led starts blinking at 95%, sometimes at 90, and this morning at 79%. Charging with USB cable works OK, the problem is only with magnetic charging. Replacing cables makes no difference.

The only workaround I found is to charge the phone using my laptop's always on USB or the 2A car charger. That way the phone gets charged to 100% without any trouble. Strange, but since lollipop has arrived, it seems that our Sony chargers don't provide enough power to charge the phone to 100%.

This is definitely software related as the magnetic charging used to work without a hitch before lollipop. I hope Sony takes this seriously as it's a real bug and is probably affecting all users of Z series who use magnetic charging and have lollipop installed on their phones. Yes, I know we can start using other chargers which provide more power, but that is not right. We want our phones to work with supplied chargers because they used to work just fine before your update broke something! It's their's fault and if their chargers are not good anymore then they should replace them free of charge!

Apparently the service center now can't replicate the error. Even though I made video of it, and the store itself could replicate it just fine. I'm thinking they did not try very hard, or they replaced the original charger and supplied cable with their own workbench power source. For whatever reason, the tablet has been in for service for about 3 weeks now, and I haven't heard back. This is getting a liiittle bit ridiculous.

Few days ago I installed the Ampere app on my Z3C and started changing the charging cables to check whether there are any differences between them. I tested only the magnetic charging (using the cheap add-on connector which you put on micro USB or the charging cradle, but it's all the same anyway) So I tried several cables, some Sony originals and some from other brands like Samsung etc. What I found out was that there can be huge difference in electric current depending on cable you use. So I tested all cables I had and took the one I got with my old Xperia S (the one with angled micro USB connector - EC600L) because Ampere had shown the best results with it. Since then I had charged my Z3C 2 times over night and the problem seems to be gone now. It gets charged to 100%.

It seems that post KK firmwares have made our phones too sensitive to differences in electric current. I guess there are some differences on motherboards in phones and Sony had probably corrected the problem in those manufactured later, but anyways, they could have said something. I'm sure they know that some of their products have this problem and they could have offered at least to replace the USB cable with the one that can charge our phones to 100% if they cannot correct the problem by firmware update. That is surely cheaper then loosing loyal buyers over something that would cost them probably just few cents a piece.

The fact that you can find a cable that works now, does not change that it used to work with any and all cables and now it doesn't. Android 5.x in Sonys implementation ruined something, even if you can use workarounds to still get a full charge. If it had worked like this when I bought it, I would have returned it immediately.

After about a month since my tablet went in for service for the second time, and the shop sending my device first to a local service partner and then directly to Sony, it's come back with "No fault" again. The bastards just wont accept that it should work with any USB cable, and it doesn't. They keep saying since they can get it to work with one specific setup (the super short original cable I expect), there is nothing wrong.

Since being polite gets you nowhere I guess it's legal action time. I bought a device which was degraded after the fact, is no longer USB compliant, can't be fixed, is still under warranty and they wont take it back. Shouldn't be too hard to win at the complaints board.

You are correct. If you can find a law firm you might get an international class action going. Sony would probably fix it then.

i didnt send the phone back yet, and i wonder it might give any results doing so

i checked again the mag charger. This never worked on kitkat, but wasnt flashing. On lollipop it flashes already on 45% charge, and wont charge at all.

Tried several wallchargers, up to 2 Amps, very short thick usb cable (10 cm). No improvements

Waiting for a 3 amps charger, but dont expect any results.

Too bad for such a company no service, nothing..

Update: received today the 3amps charger... 3 USB outlets. No difference with the magnetic charger unit. Now testing USB port of the Xperia, but expect the same result.  Used cable 10 cm long

Checked also the USB port charging, same result, flashing display at 84%....

Hm, well, the first time mine was in for service, they did fix "an electrical fault". Back then it wouldn't charge with any cable. After it was "fixed" it will at least charge with the original very short cables.

Worth a try to send it in.

I also now found a charger (non-original) that will charge my device with any of the cables that used to work with the original charger. It's a 1,25A, 12V 4 port USB mini-hub kinda thing delivering 2A at 5V to connected devices. Not sure why this one works, but my theory is it's running at slightly more than 5V to counteract the voltage drop of the longer cable.

I still believe the problem is mainly cable voltage drop causing the charging circuit to cut out prematurely after 5.x.
