Hi,
I've got an Xperia z3 Compact, and the internal memory is always full. A bit over 4 GB is Android, 6 GB is apps, 2 GB each for audio and pictures, and some here and there for 'Other'. I clear the cache regularly via the 'Internal Storage' screen in 'Settings'.
About a year ago the SD slot stopped working (the mechanism that held it in never worked very well and eventually the work around of jamming it in with some paper stopped working) - so transferring stuff to the SD card is not an option.
I've tried deleting audio (podcasts) via 'Settings' as I've finished listening to them, but in spite of deleting over 1 GB of audio, this doesn't get any smaller. Are these files hiding somewhere else? Cleared cache of both the Music and Podcast apps.
My 'Mail' app is 0.5 GB, and in spite of deleting all the stuff with very large attachments (over 0.1 GB), the size doesn't change. I don't use this app that often, but don't want to delete it. How can I reduce it's size (there are loads of e mails there, but as for the podcasts, the size doesn't go down when I delete things).
Any suggestions?
Update - after playing with a few options and exploring more, all the audio files that I deleted were still in the 'Other' folder, under 'Music'. I deleted these and got enough space to update apps. However I still have the issue with the e mail app being way too big and not being able to reduce its size by deleting e mails.
