Individual assigned ringtones not working

For some time now I have not been able to have my assigned individual ringtones to play, instead it just plays the default ringtone regardless of what I assign to my contacts.

I have read that the ringtones must be on the internal memory, which they are. I've cut and pasted them from internal to external and back again, I've deleted them from the phone and SD Card completely and recopied them from my computer to the internal memory and deleted them again and copied them to the SD Card. No combination seems to change the situation.

Has anyone found a definative fix for this problem? I was hoping that the update yesterday (18 Jan 17), may've fixed the problem but no luck.... still the same.

Any assistance that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Really sorry to hear about this. Have you made sure that you transferred the files to the Ringtone folder, it must be in this section or it will not pick up the tone.

Hi Jake,

yes the ringtones are in the ringtones folder. If I choose a ringtone from this folder as the default rington it works fine, just no go to assign them to individuals.

Same thing happens to me with the buit in email client. If I choose a built-in ringtone everything is fine, if I chose one of mine nothing works, but if I choose the same notification sound from the settings menu it works...

Update:
For me delete all the cache data fixed the situation.
