Gmail sync works only on Wi-Fi

Emails from my Gmail accounts will not come in during regular mobile Internet connection. Any browsers work though, so there is nothing wrong with the Internet connection. As soon as I enable wi-fi all emails will pop in. I cannot find this issue on any forum. I am wondering what I have missed. I have this phone for a year now and I thought I know it enough to fix it, but I failed. I am wondering if the recent Android 6 upgrade has anything to do with it.

The problem is gone, and I did not do anything, besides trying to figure it out. The bottom line is that I cannot reproduce it. The issue existed while I was travelling, so I am not sure it was an issue with Vodafone and a port issue.

I am not sure what happened, but the problem went away as soon as I got home from the weekend trip.

Answering your question, I do not have an antivirus software, the phone wasn't in stamina mode as it was charged, and I do not have a battery app.

I do have ES File Explorer, and it has a power optimizer menu, but it wasn't changed. I tried it right after reading your comments, but when I disable something in ES File Explorer it is screaming all over with messages that I have auto-sync disabled for example. It displays that above your emails, which is very hard to miss.

Once again. The problem is gone, and I do not know what was going on. Maybe I missed something, but it would be nice to know what that is, or why it happened.

I am an electrical engineer with very good problem solving and programing skills, and this is my 4th android phone since the very first day T-Mobile released the G1 in the US witht the slide out keyboard.

I never had to use a forum until now.

Thanks anyway.

@sostarob

Do you have an antivirus or stamina mode or any battery app installed/active?
