Cannot save new Calendar entries after latest phone software update

I purchased my Xperia Z5 at the beginning of 2016 and after using it happily and successfully for the last 6 months, I am suddenly not able to save new calendar entries.

Everything seems to work correctly when inputting a new calendar date but new entries are just not saved.  All my originally saved entries are still visible, it just does allow me to create new ones.

I only noticed this after the latest software update, I installed a few weeks ago.  This may or may not be significant

I would appreciate any help.  Thank you.

I am pleased to report back that I have sorted out the problem.

It was the settings in my phone that were wrong as the wrong calendar was selected.

I have now changed that back to the Device Calendar and everything works as it did before.

Are you using the preloaded calendar?

Try using Google calendar instead.

I gave up on the Sony / system calendar app because it would often crash.  I eventually discovered that was because the app would not allow you to set a notification more than 2 weeks in advance, however if you created the event online in Gmail and with a >2 week notification and then opened the event on the phone, the app would crash.  

Whether this bug has been fixed in subsequent updates I don't know but I switched to Google calendar and never looked back.
