Can only hear phone calls on speaker phone

Hi. I did a battery replacement on my xperia z5 compact and I thought everything went fine I until I made a phone call and realized I can only hear the phone call when on speaker phone. If I have the phone in "regular" mode the caller can hear me fine but I cannot hear them. Did something get unplugged when I took the battery out? Or did I do damage? Or maybe can having the battery out cause softwear issues?? Thanks!

Hi @Systemalist, sorry to hear that you are having the same troubles with your phone.

Have you had the time to try any of the troubleshooting that I have recommended in this thread? If you haven't done that, I would recommend that you start with the ear speaker test in Diagnostics!

@jermzfree123, did everything work out for you in the end?

My issue with the ear speaker is resolved, and probably an easier solution as most people with this issue. I forgot a screw! and was causing the contact points of the speaker to not quite reach the board. If anyone has this issue with the speaker my recomendation would be try replacing the speaker (as they are quite cheap) before replacing the phone. I have never taken a phone apart and am a complete amature. That being said on a 1-10 scale I would put replacing the speaker at a 4. Hope this helps someone!
