I am tryng to decide which of these 2 models is supported best in the US.
C6833 is the international version. I would prefer it because it has LTE and I will be able to get at least some LTE in the US.
C6802 has HSDPA+ which is pretty fast in its own right.
Did C6802 receive Android 4.3 before C6833 ?
Thanks.
Btw, in my opinion C6806 is a bad deal because you get stock Android which is not the tablet interface that Sony added. I have owned a Nexus 4 recently and its not so much of a big deal being boring and all with no reall fun add-ons.
uliwooly, you are so wrong on so many levels here. Let me show you.
1. You started your last post by just continuing the "dead" topic from my previous thread on LTE. Its obvious I am not interested in LTE in this thread so why you would go there ?
2. I made it clear I am not intereted in the Google Edition so why did you mention it ?
3. You posted this link ===> http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-z-ultra/
Everyone that has made it to this forum has seen the link to UPDATES and has read it so including this link is not necessary and does not answer my question.
4. You mention updates are carrier specific. This is not the case in the US since this is not a carrier phone. It is always purchased here in the US unlocked.
5. The following statement you made is just plain unethical because it is not true and you know it is not true. You said,
"There's no way someone could answer which model will be best supported or which model will get the latest update sooner."
The purpose of my new thread was to see if any C6802 owners here in the US have heard that other C6833 owners here in the US have received updates sooner. And alo vice versa. That is the type of feedback I am looking for with my new thread.
I ask you again to seperate my new thread from my previous thread. They both seek different answers.
Interesting post, why don't you use the search bar "top right corner" see if there are other threads on the same question(s), also you can contact Sony directly
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
I'm certain you won't get an "unethical" answer or a improper answer
Also, lets say that the LTE version got the last update before the 3G version, there's no warranty that the same will be true on future updates
Why would uli's answer be so wrong, anthonykitmcinnis? Why do you people do not appreciate help you get from normal people, not staff from sony, which are volunteers and just try to give a hand? For your information,he did not get the legend title just like that,he has a history and a knowledge which you,I say this, are not allowed to combat. We are doing this for free, keep that in mind.If you were to receive answer from sony,it either will not come at all,or you will be even more dissapointed by it.You have quick replies, quick help.A little thank you is enough, more than that we do not ask.Even this we do not get all the time, but that is no problem. We help and we enjoy doing all this.
alexdon, I do appreciate your and uli's work here. I have been an admin before and I can tell you I do understand. Uli though, in this instance, is wrong. We should not start allowing bad habits just because an admin is volunteer. In some cases, not this one though, a bad vounteer is worse than the alternative. Keep up the good work however please try to learn and grow.
In my first post Uli said, "LTE will drain your battery faster than H+ but if you have the option to buy either or get the C6806".
This is wrong on two fronts. First, LTE being bad on the battery is just a common misconception, an old wives tale, that an admin should be aware of. Secondly, the C6806 is a bad bad because it has stock Android which is no where near as useful as Sony's UI. For instance, the Sony UI is optimized of tablet interface. It is the only phone on the market that has this feature. To give this up for stock Android is foolish.
Read this post to understand why LTE is not worse on the battery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756292
Based on what I am seeing this is likely just his first time being an admin.
Btw, I searched the forum for an answer before I posted.
@anthonykitmcinnis, I can and will repeat that test, after all I am an AT&T customer and I have multiple devices some are LTE capable some are only H, this is based on my experience that LTE does drain my battery faster than H, but I'll perform the test on that link
Uli, what you should do also is seperate my 2 threads.
They ask 2 seperate questions.
I would hate to see you make the decision to combine my 2 threads because its easier for you, an admin, to manage your job as admin.

This should start to give you an idea
Standby time (UMTS) Up to 820 hours**
Standby time (LTE) Up to 700 hours**
** Values are according to GSM Association Battery Life Measurement Technique as performed in controlled
laboratory conditions. Actual time may vary.
NOTE: Battery performance may vary depending on network conditions and configurations, and phone
usage.
NOTE: All performance metrics are measured under laboratory conditions.
There are myriad threads at the XDA Forum regarding LTE v HSPA+ battery life, there are many factors. Keep in mind that if you are in a poor network coverage area even HSPA+ could drain your battery faster than normal, or if there isn't any LTE coverage in your area and you have the LTE version and LTE enabled, your battery will drain faster, etc etc.
That's as far as the battery life, as far as software updates and/or support you are not going to find any info as to which phone its best supported, other than the play edition will get updates faster, as far as the other "Xperia" versions Sony will not comment on this, but you SHOULD contact Sony directly so they can give you specific answers, also like I've said before just because lets say the C6802 got updates sooner than the C6806 that doesn't mean it will continue to be so on future updates, keep in mind that you have 4 options to choose from
LTE C6806, LTE C6833, HSPA C6802, and then you got the other variant of the LTE C6806 which is the Play edition. Yes there are 2 versions, one is the Xperia Z Ultra C6806 and then the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition

I just had a telephone conversation with a guy 5 miles from me that says he is selling his C6833 and he has the LTE icon when he inserts TMobile or ATT sim cards.
I said okay when you get here -he is driving it to me- if I do not see LTE then I will not buy it and you will have wasted your time driving here.
He said "No, no, no this phone will show the LTE icon right next to the percentage of battery remaining.
It seems that ATT has started extending the bands available on its network.
As long as your area has LTE 17 band, you will have LTE, but in other areas where there's only band 4 you will go back to H+
LTE 700 / 850 / 900/ 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 C6806
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 C6833
AT&T use 700 (4) 1700/2100 (17) (1700 for uplink - 2100 for downlink)
