Ads Pop Up After Ending Calls

Ads Pop Up After Ending Calls

Ever since I got this phone, a box with an ad will show up whenever I hang up from a call. The box shows the caller name (if I have it saved), the number of the caller and duration of the call, plus total minutes of call time for the month. It also shows an ad. It doesn't appear to provide any information as to which app is causing these boxes to show.  At first, I found this annoying so I tried going through my phone and the manual to see how I could disable this. I didn't see anything on how to do this so I just dealt with it.  Now they're showing ads with starving kids and abused animals and I don't need these images popping up on my phone. So, I called Verizon who had me reset my phone which wiped out all my apps I'd added and all my info. They told me this would fix the problem. Well, it hasn't. So I called them back and they said it's a problem with Sony and to call Sony about it. Before I do this, does anyone know how to disable these ads after hanging up from a call? Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi @LVCatLady, sorry to hear about this, must be very inconvenient. Slightly_frowning_Face

It does really sound like this is related to a third party application in the phone, since you are receiving ads.

When you reset the phone, did you perform a factory reset (Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset) or was it some other reset? If you did perform a factory reset, did you install any new applications after the reset before you made a phone call?

Just to make sure that this pop up is not caused by a downloaded application in your phone, try and reboot your phone in safe mode and place a call and see if you still experience ads, duration of the call and so forth. To exit safe mode, simply restart your device as normal.

Let me know how it went! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi - I get the same problem on an LG phone - it has just started and is very annoying.  I have started deleting apps & checked every setting on the phone but it is still there. LVCatLady, did you ever work out a fix to this issue.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi @Granta26, welcome to our forum!

If you are using an LG device, I would recommend that you get in touch with them directly. You can however see if you are able to reboot your device in safe mode the same way on an LG device as an Xperia device and see if there has been any change.

However, if you still experience the same behaviour in safe mode, or you can't restart the phone in safe mode, please get in touch with the LG support and they will be able to assist you.

I hope that helps!

@Pe01

Have you tested the above suggestions?

Hi @Pe01, welcome to our forum!

Have you had the chance to try my previous suggestion in this post and tried restarting your device in safe mode? Safe mode is a mode that temporarily disables third party applications so we can easily see if any of them are the cause of these ads that you receive.

Keep us posted!
