Good morning, I don’t manage to connect to the WiFi at home: I tried several tips as suggested in this forum, e.g. for the xz1: I used the “developer trick”, I did reset the internet options, I downloaded the latest sw available (51.1.A.11.26), I add the network myself, but I am always “out of range”.
Funny enough, if I set my old phone as a hotspot, I can connect to that WiFi. For info the installed android is version 8.0.0
Thanks for help
Solved! Go to Solution.
Let's continue, there must be some kind of solution.
Excuse me if I repat questions, we have to be shure everything is checked.
If you tried everything and nothing works then it's time to call Ghostbusters, I mean Xperia Support.
You can do so from within the Support app on your device.
You can chat, mail or call, whatever you prefer.

Do other devices in your home connect normally to the Wi-Fi?
One thing you can try is to log in to your router settings and choose a different channel.
Yes: phones, pc, etc connect properly. The signal strength is good and it catches the network but never complete the connection.
I am doubtful the WiFi channel could improve, however I will check if it is possible to do it.
Try and reset the router plus reset your phone's network settings.
Settings-> system->reset options
See how it behaves afterwards.
Not for me.
Still no connection.
I can further reset the whole phone to original settings.
Any other suggestion before that?
Wait a minute.
I haven't seen safe mode mentioned.
Would you mind going into safe mode and see what happens?
In safe mode 3rd party apps are excluded and you have a clean operating system.
If it functions in safe mode then there is an app obstructing your device's proper functioning.
Safe mode: push power button and then long press on the restart icon.
PS
It is always very interesting to know what is happening.
I have learned however that in case of mishap a complete fresh install is the best choice.
My Windows system gets a clean install once a year and my phone is the victim of countless experiments so it is reset several times a year.
Thanks a lot.
It sounded as a good idea but did not work. I made a factory reset... but still it does not work.
I will later try again the “developer” solution with a clean telephone.
And let you know.
No, unfortunately none of the solutions I found so far in this forum allows me to connect to my home WiFi.
