During Xperia Z era, when these phones has any problems, Sony will try their best to fix it, that's why I continued to support Sony, but now Sony is not responsible, I'm so shameful when comparing my phone to any other brands. I know this is repetitive topic, but I must tell to Sony this is serious issue and have to solve it immediately! Battery drain issue started since Nougat and it got serious in 7.1.1, if Sony wants us to switch to XZ1 or XZP, we must have faith to the brand first, I scared my XZ1 or XZP will encounter the same issue, and Sony treat user like abandon a new born baby.
Wish I'm wrong.
The good news is there is zero battery drain with the October update for 7.1.1 on the XZ on the USA version, confirmed on all 3 of my international models, and my Japan models from DoCoMo have no drain, althought they are still on 7.0 (thankfully).
Happy Sony had addressed the issue, but I do wish all international carriers would be quicker with their own updates.

Gratz dude I'm so envy of you, my battery usage since last full charge:
Highest: screen (28%)
Second: idle (9%)
Third: android system (7%)
Forth: android OS (6%)
I guess my XZ(Installed Oct update) battery drain issue haven't solved yet, I don't want to buy a large volume power bank for my trip.
Hi, I have a xz as well, not even one week old. My battery does not last at all. My phone will be at 100% when I go sleep and when I wake up if will be at 95 while Al my data and apps are off/closed. I'm running android v7. 1.1 thinking of sending my phone to Sony to have it looked at. What do you guys think?
Can you guys try disabling Movie Creator. People report that this solves the battery drain on XZ, I personally always have this disabled and cant say i get any battery drains more than the usual anyways
I have XZP and the drain is unbearable!
To make matters worse, my battery indicator is stuck at 20% regardless of how much I charge it. Don't get me wrong, the phone still charges but always says 20% so I never know when it is going to
die on me.
In addition, I have a Sony update pending. The update won't go ahead BECAUSE the battery level is 20%...... it insists on requiring a battery level of 30% in order to perform the update!!
I am beginning to realise this was a BIIIIIIIIG waste of money!!
