"phone keeps stopping" error

So every time I try to call or someone tries to call me, my phone will flash this errore. This is the same when I try and go to my voice mail. Please help because I need my phone to be a phone.

Hello @David_S, welcome to the community!

I'm really sorry to hear about your phones behaviour.

I recommend that you clear data for the phone application. You do this by going to Settings > Apps and Notifications > App-info. Scroll down to Phone, tap it and then choose Storage. Here you'll have "Clear Data", which will remove data stored in the application. No data such as contacts or photos will be removed, since they are stored in the internal memory, not in the application.

If you still get the error when you try to call, I suggest that you start your phone in safe mode (clickable link), just to make sure that none of your downloaded applications are interacting with the Phone-application. In Safe mode, you can still use the basic functions such as calling, text messaging and accessing the Internet. Try to make a call in Safe Mode and see if the behaviour persists, and to exit safe mode, just restart your phone as usual.

Following the above. My Xperia XA1 has this problem, Went through 2 weeks of no wifi and failing battery as it tried to connect; now no phone app - pretty unhelpful for a phone!! Tried the advice and in safe mose still gives the message and refuses to run the app. Calls can only be made to contacts from that app. Cant't see missed calls or reply to them. Any further advice please?

Hold your finger on the phone app and tap on the info icon

Scroll down to advanced and tap on Modify system settings

Try this, because i encounter same probs and was able to fix it this way:

1. Settings

2. Apps and notification

3. Apps info

4. Phone

5. Modify system settings

6. Click "yes"

Thats all i doto solve mine

Try it also in your phone

Good evening sir,

I am using Sony Xperia R1 handset. I used 4G conference call option at top right side under phone option then added two name in the said option and hit the call option. Immediately after that mobile was reflecting the message"Phone Keeps Stopping".

I did all efforts such as starting in Safe mode and clear data and clear catche file still I am facing the same problem.

Please help me in this regard!
