Pull down menu always activated during on-ear call

My XZ2 phone pull down menu always activated even if I have on-going call on-ear. This result in activation of some features every time I have call... Annoying

I have the same problem here and I really would appreciate a professional answer from Sony support. Didn't find anything in the settings tho solve this problem, I really hope, this is not a hardware-issue!

I have the same problem (it seems systemic). During a conversation with your ear, the buttons of the on-screen menu are pressed, which for some reason vylazit always. In addition to this, the screen does not always go out and you pause your ear with a pause. It's amazing, I think I gave such a bunch of money for xz2 and it tupit, like five-kopeck, it enrages.

У меня та же проблема (похоже системная). Во время разговора ухом нажимаются кнопки экранного меню, которое почему-то вылазиет всегда. В дополнение к этому не всегда тухнет экран и разговор ухом ставишь на паузу. Это поражает, думаешь я отдал такую кучу денег за xz2 а он тупит, как пятикопеешный, это бесит.

Same problem with my device.

This is apparently exactly same proximity sensor (software or hardware) issue that many xperia xa2 face (and maybe some other xperias as well, i don't know) - just read xa2 forum. 

Sony pretends problem is not existing, as we can see not only in case of midranger xa2 but also in case of flagship xz2 they are so proud of...

It shoots 960 fps videos, who would waste time using it for calling!

Sony, is it this idea?

I have not experienced this issue on my device (H8216 Rev3) 

Have you tried testing the Ear proximity in Settings > Support > Tests > Ear proximity?

tYes, I tested proximity sensor with the this test. It works, but I cannot judge if  it works ok.

It activates when my finger is around 2 cm from the sensor. I can also put my finger between earpiece and sensor without activating the sensor, so I can imagine situation that I put the phone to my ear and sensor does not activate because my (not square) head is more than 2 cm from the sensor (while ear still touching earpiece). So, in my opinion, these two things can be the cause of the problem - sensor located too far from the earpiece and activated only in the distance of 2 cm.

Hello all.

This problem occurs when the ambient/ proximity sensor is covered (tel in the pocket, case) and the connection comes - the screen does not off. Then the ear turns various functions. I have this problem on oreo and pie. Factory reset did not help. Sony help us because this problem is very very disruptive... Model H8266 rev 2.

I have the same problem. It seems to me the reason is that the sensor that is responsible for turning off the touch screen does not work well. My phone H8266.

When I've answered the phone I just push the on/off button on the side. It will turn the screen off. Just make sure to turn it off again after you change the volume during during call because it will light the screen again.

I do the same because there is no other way. And I am beginning to doubt whether sony will fix it - they should have repaired it for a long time. In addition, the problem was on android 8 and now on the 9th and in safe mode too.
