Google Pay NFC payment not working

Hi

I have recently added Google Pay contactless payment to my xperia XZS phone, but I'm unable to get it work. The Xperia XZS/G8231 model has the NFC sensor on the front upper left side corner within a square about half the width of the phone.

I have tried NFC payment at 3 different stores without success, the phone does not respond at all. I was not sure about range and delay of the payment and I have tried my old Xperia Z2 phone which worked on first try.

• Google Pay app card registration ok and only 1 card
• Google play protect report is ok
• Default NFC payment app in settings is Google Pay
• NFS is enabled and I have tested an NFC access cards which the phone responds to
• Android version 8.0.0 security update may 2019 (41.3.A.2.247)

How do I troubleshoot NFC payment on my Xperia XZS phone ?

I figured it out. Reading other posts I know understand the Google Pay contactless payment is dependent on your SIM. I was using a secondary SIM in my Xzs and switched to my primary SIM. Google Pay now works.

Could you test the NFC?

Settings > system > about phone > support > NFC
