Android 7.1.1 + battery drain

Hello,
I am on Android 7.1.1 now and I noticed a huge impact on screen on time battery life.

Before the update I was having like 6 to even over 7 hours of SOT. Now I am having like 4 hours SOT.
This is a huge decrease. Please note I installed the update via OTA and did not change any settings or did not install any new apps. I am using the phone exactly the same way as I was doing it before.

On the other hand I noticed that IDLE time is much better now. Battery drain from 0 to 1% over night.
I think they've just upped the cpu's (or gpu's) clock when navigating through UI that made the phone so fast and smooth now. Sadly it is impacting the battery SOT too much. I would expect the software optimizations in code rather than simply upping the clocks to get rid of lags.

I hope Sony will fix it soon Slightly_frowning_Face
Thank you.

The battery is pathetic after this update. The phone is indeed faster but battery drain is insane! I did an OTA update as well and was thinking to to clean install it again hoping for better results but I'm very busy!

Exactly what I am saying, now max SOT is around 4h Slightly_frowning_Face
How it compares to previous 7h??? It is almost 50% decrease! I hope Sony will react fast to this issue.
Anyway, I do not like new battery graph, it does not show the information for how long in total the phone was working on battery... it only shows remaining time 😕 I noticed that one update is bringing this information and another takes it away.

I had the same problem.... The ui used a lot of battery for God knows what and even crashed. The phone became a nice handwarm.

I did a factory reset (not with companion) and it works perfect now.

I can use Chrome (and other Internet based apps) without making the battery indicator a count down.

The phone is noticing cooler with long use.. Say an hour continu.

Sorry, I know this is not what you would like to hear.

Cheers

Marco

Performance is way better for me on 7.1.1, although screen on time is broadly the same, leaning towards six hours....... I'd honestly been slightly disappointed with the XZ until this landed - just odd that not everyone is having the same experience. If it matters, I was running stock UK initially, but picked up some european firmware when reverting to marshmallow for a few weeks (I'll have to search online a little if anyone wants to re-trace my steps). All updates have been OTA since that point. Not perfect by any means, but given the clear bump in speed and the fluency of the screen.....

Is there any difference between companion and factory reset?

You said "not with companion" why?

Are you saying that the speed of 7.1.1 is better than Marshmallow, or better than 7.0?
