Z5 back cover cracked

Hi, I have owned my z5 for 2 months and have been pleased with it up until yesterday when the back cover cracked. It has not been dropped or bent or struck in anyway. I was downloading some music files and left it for around an hour. When I got back the phone was super hot and the rear cover had a crack straight across its width around the middle of the phone. I really don't know what happened to it. Has anyone else had this type of thing happen? And do you think it'll be covered under warranty? I doubt it will as Sony will probably say I've dropped it or something however I absolutely 100% have not.

you should contact your Local support to get it inspected.

I can remember the same with nexus 4 - random back cracks without a reason or just hot to cold surface.

Same  here,self cracked from top to bottom,rather repair it myself and pay 1/3 of costs from Sony repair center.Looks like this is not covered by warranty,after some googling activity.I really like the size/performance of this phone,switched from Z2 this autumn.:smileysad:

I'd say to just go ahead and repair it yourself as there's plenty of parts around. Just try to get the adhesive because you want to make sure your waterproofness isn't gone.

Z5 Back glass. Last evening, in the car.. just used Snapchat and switch to text messaging and right there in my hand I heard a pop.... from mid left to upper right back glass.. 1 clean line of a crack.... and now the fingerprint scanner is giving me issues... called support and they are sending waybill to ship but if its deemed physical damage its not covered.. never been dropped.. had it 20 days.. it just got warm and then POP

I have the Z5 for 3 months now. A couple of weeks ago, just got it from charging, in the morning. Leaving for work, observed the back was cracked, across it's width. Also there was no drop. It's such a shame, my previuos phone was the Xperia Z, never had a problem with it.
