I would have expected the 2.1 update to be 2.1+ - so that's the standard 2.1 that everyone gets plus a little bit of SonyEricsson "magic". Otherwise why is it taking so long to see that update?
So I would have thought live wallpapers (total waste of time imho - but I realise that ymmv) would be there unless they need multi-touch support for some reason.
Radio - good point - anyone know if the X10 has the FM-RDS hardware that the "lesser" X10Mini apparently has (see http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/products/phoneportfolio/specification/xperiax10mini)? No insult intended to any X10Mini owners by the way - it's still a nice phone.
Touch Zoom - isn't that application-specific? It certainly works fine for me in Opera. Again, I can't see any compelling reason why SE would feel the need to take this out.

Live wallpapers? What are they? Does it mean an animated screensaver?
Also, touch zoom? I havbe Opera on mine, but I'm not sure what touch zoom is. I might be missing out on something exciting here!
Live wallpapers are interactive backgrounds (at least according to http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/live-wallpapers.html) I'm guessing in a similar mold to the way that he Active Desktop was supposed to work for Windows. So you can have a background picture that darkens as it get's darker outside (presumably so you don't have to look out of the window to tell it's night?!). And you can also have backgrounds that do things if the user presses on them - e.g. have a picture of a puddle and when the user taps on the picture you get an effect like rain drops falling into the water.
Very pretty? yes! Useful? Not as far as I can see - sounds like Apple-stylee eye candy.
I often lose track of the time, but find that wearing a watch helps with that. Could we also have a scene that not only tells us if it's dark outside, but also what season it is? Perhaps trees with the leaves falling off in the autumn? One could even set the clock on the phone wrong and try to confuse it. That'd teach it who's boss...! Yeah, something I think I could learn to live without. If I want pretty, I'll use my profile picture on this forum as my wallpaper.
If you have a look at this thread on AndroidForums there are two youtube videos of the X10 showing it with 2.1, the first is embedded in the thread and the second is a link further down. The second one actually shows a live wallpaper but as I don't speak German I can't really make head nor tale of it. Interesting tho!

Oh, and it does have falling leaves on that video!
I couldn't make out much, either, but it does look pretty.
Yeah and the water rippled with touch or phone movement. Only worry would be how much of a battery killer are they.
It's certainly not going to help with battery life, is it? Mine's a lot better than it was at first, but I'd rather use the battery for more useful things, if given the choice.
It'll be a novelty for me, that Live Wallpaper. However what struck me was the responsiveness! That was awesome! (As my son would put it....)
