I know it is probably something simple. Yet I am not too sure the difference between the two. My first thought is that one is a US version and the other international. I just wanted to check and see the difference.
I think you should either get rid of this phone or get with T-mobile.
EDGE service is much slower than 3G. You will not be using the full potential of any phone being on EDGE network.
Err.... sorry but where do you get the info of the X10? There's currently only 2 X10 model, the X10i and the recently released X10a. X10a works with CDMA system in the US while the X10i works with everything else. There is a slight frequency modulation difference between those two models. I'm not even sure if there is a difference in hardware.
It really doesn't matter what phone I have I still get Edge here. I live in a very Rural area of Wyoming so I am thankful I even get anything. Verizon is not so great service here. I laughed every time I would see the "can you hear me now " commercials because apparently they haven't tried that here! AT&T, TMobile, Altell and anyone else you can think of doesn't cover in my area. So, I stick with what works, even if that means I don't get the 3G.
that sucks....
If I were you, I probably wouldn't even bother getting the DATA plan.
Maybe miss reading Wikipedia where it says the Xperia x10 was released in Japan and then further on saying variants of this phone being the x10i and x10a
that were released in other parts of the world so assuming from this that the Japanese release was neither x10i or x10a so a 3rd x10

I am not from France either, but I do believe from the email I got from SE that we will get the update when France does. I was told there will be an icon/message come up on my phone about an update available on my phone and to connect to Wifi or through the computer to update.
Now while searching this morning I found this. Which if it is correct I will not see an update till the end of November since I am a SIM capable phone. Well that is alright I am not in a huge hurry anyways. Life goes on. I can get all frustrated and upset, but what is the point? It will be here when it gets here no matter what so nothing I can do so no reason to bash SE or anything.
X10 in Japan is called the SH-01b (if I recall correctly). There is a small RAM difference between the i and the SH models, other than that it is essentially the i model.
hi darkmax,
X10i and X10a, their main difference is a CDMA network but not 3G network. U means X10a can use everywhere but X10i can't stand in USA CDMA network. Which CDMA network X10a used such as 800 or 450? Can X10a stand the other country CDMA network? Thank you!
X10i can be used worldwide. X10a can generally only be used in USA. You got that reversed.
CDMA is limited to USA, I believe.
