Hi can anyone explain why after I tried taking a picture using my Xperia V in the pool(not fully submerged) the phone leaked some water in.
There seemed to be some humidity in the camera lens and then screen started freezing. I immediatley took the battery out and blow dried it, afterwards the humidity evaporated from the lens but the phone's screen is not rotating anymore and whenever I try to open tabs in Chrome the phone automatically crashes!
This is the last thing I would expect from such a phone! PLEASE ADVISE!
take it to a Sony repair center ASAP
If "waterproof" phone gets damaged by water, is this covered by warranty?
Xperia V is advertised as water- and dustproof, I haven't tried water but there is definitely dust leaking in through the back cover. I'm not happy about this at all.
It is not advertised as water- or dustPROOF, only resistant!
@kuldahv warranty doesn't cover this.
like ahvenan said it's water/dust resistant not proof
as long as water/dust doesn't go inside the actual phone you shouldn't worry about it, perhaps you should consider the Xperia Z instead of the Xperia V as there isn't a back cover.
Sorry, I'm no linguist, what's the difference?
Degree of protection I assume.
Sony's own page (and the Xperia V whitepaper) says dust*proof*:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-v/specifications/
(Mine has quite a bit of dust inside the back cover already)
It also says "can be kept under 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 57."

I doubt the phone company will allow me to reconsider my purchase.
I bought it because it is advertised as "dustproof" and as "can be kept under 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 57."
Since there is already dust under back cover and getting dustier, it certainly doesn't meet either of the claims.
in the notice regarding the use of the phone in water it says to not use your phone in the following conditions:
ocean water
swimming pool
diving (>1m)
hot water
sand/mud
other liquid chemicals
