I spent all day on the phone with ATT technical support. They were disappointed upon recieving my IMEI number, says it's not their phone.
They tell me that SE has stuff hid and it's their job to supply me with settings but when transferred to SonyEricsson technical support all I get
is a cold shoulder. They tell me they used to send settings to mobile devices through their web site but no longer, go back and call ATT again.
They did the best they could at ATT and got enough settings guessed in to where I have an APN called media net now, and I can actually get on the internet.
Cool.
Still, I am unable to recieve picture mail.
I saw other blogs out there and actually copied someone's APN settings down, they're way different than the ones ATT gave me, and they also worked! Just internet access tho,
picture messaging still would not work.
Also my x10 has an "auto internet settings" button, but it is shaded out and I can't click it.
I also tried data synchronizing with SE and that didn't work either, my phone has never been "sync"d lol
The settings I'm using right now that let's the phone get on the internet are as follows:
Name: Media Net
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:
Password:
Server: localhost
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy:
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type:
I even tried guessing other names and figures into that APN settings page still can't get mms picture messaging to work.
I saw other folks with similar troubles posting here and no answers.
Is there anyone smart that has remedies able to get my unlocked x10 to work with ATT so I can view the picture messages my kids send me?
you mean an MMS message?
yes, that's what ATT calls it, an "mms" message.
my fancy new phone can't "text".
well the text shows in a preview chat thing but the pictures never show up
no matter how you press swipe or pound on the download button
mms
does not work
from ATT
on my
X10
period
Try this, it worked for me just now.
Name: whatever_you_want_the_name_to_be
APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: cingular1
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
I had the same issue with at&t, how did they fixed it?. they didn't. I deleted and edited the APN and nothing, I even got SE OTA APN settings but didn't worked. Try backing up everything but the system settings. (make sure you remember to add your alarms and all that). connect-> mount_> run SEUS (as if you were updating your phone) and then it will say you have the latest update, click on FIX, and that should do it, at least it did w/ mine.
Thanks Aleem15 I tried your settings.
ok let's see if you left anything out cuz it certainly does work for getting on the internet, just as good as the settings I previously posted.
My "Auto Internet settings" button is shaded out on this x10. Still.
So I put yours in and the picture mail still....
DOES NOT WORK FOR MMS !
the download button is all caps and I tap it, double click it, press and hold, swipe at it and try to stimulate it or ... nothing. Still broke. SO!
Aleem15 I have more buttons than you have answers for.
So from the top, please paste
Name
APN
Proxy
Port
Username
Password
Server
MMSC
MMS Proxy
MMS Port
MCC 310
MNC 410
APN Type
Uliwooly what is that you type? Sounds foggy to me, like you're all able to tap a bunch of buttons and click stuff real fast and type like blazes to confuse the likes of me!
hmm... I sourced this out for you (although I'm over the other side of America). However, this info was posted circa 2004......

Erm... here's the link to the official tutorial guide to set up MMS on an X10 with AT&T.
Try this, simple and easy, just select your country, carrier, type your # and voila you'll get a txt with the info.
i agree yours is the much easier method.
