The camera is so disappointing

Why is the camera on the X10 being advertised as so good? It's clumsy, slow and awkward to use. No flash and pictures can be very difficult to take with blurring happening more times than not. One of the main reasons I choose the X10 over other devices was the promise of a brilliant camera.

Sony Ericsson, can you give us any information on future updates to the camera, eg wil we ever get the flash that you promised in a 'future update' and will you ever increase the screen colours? HD video recording is a great start (I'm yet to try it out as the update isn't available to me yet), but please bring the camera up to the quality I've experienced with previous SE devices

They are not that expensive these days. But I still prefer an SLR with a roll loaded. Somehow they look better developed.

Well, they're certainly cheaper than they were. This is a bit off-topic, so tell a moderator if you like:smileywink: , but there was talk many years ago of a digital thing that went in to the film compartment on SLR cameras and so converted a film camera to a DSLR.  Ever heard of that, or know what might have happened to it...?

I find the camera image has become clearer since the update. But one thing I notice is, i tried 30 secs HD video recording but there are quire a few places the movie lags(stop for a moment)... At first I tot it was x10 not able to play it smoothly, then i transfer to my desktop, but the lags are still there...anyone experience the same thing??? anyone know what's the problem???

It's likely caused by the speed (class) of your SD card.  The stock card that comes with the phone is a class 2 card, which means it only has a minimum write speed of 2 MB/s.  If you plan on recording HD video on a regular basis you should look into upgrading your SD card to a class 6 or higher.  The higher the class, the higher the minimum write speed.

I use a 16GB class 6 card when I want to record HD video and it works pretty well.  Sometimes there is still a little bit of lag, but not very often.

oooo.. thanks for explaning. I guess I have to purchase my own memory card... Hopefully next time SE can give a better memory card, since they charge the phone higher than other same or even better performance phone.

It was indeed a long time ago.  I guess it didn't work out too well.  A pity...

If you have some spare money, you should invest in a Sandisk Mobile Ultra MicroSD series. Very very fast to both read and write. Unfortunately it only goes up to 8GB in capacity.

Actually I wasn't too interested in that. It can kind of kill the art of celluloid photography.

Hi,

The Camera is good compared to many phones in the market, though from Sony one might expect it to be better. The start up time is bit slow and the hardware buttom is a bit rigid, other than this the it is just fine.
