I've only had my PLAY for a week and yesterday the battery suddenly died in the space of 2 hours after showing wifi activity and awake time up until it turned itself off. I wasn't using the phone. I was asleep and only noticed when I woke up really early and decided to check it. I plugged in the charger and the battery indicater wasn't filling up, so I took the battery out and tried again. It worked after that. I unplugged it this morning and it still thinks it's charging.....what gives? I thought these phones were supposed to be good and now it looks like the batteries are faulty?
Having used this handset myself I can honestly say this is not normal behavior for the handset. With this being the case I would strongly advise running a repair via PC Companion, if the problem continues after that please do let us know here.
When I try to install the Companion try my phone on my Windows 7 machine, it won't start, even if I open the folder and click the autorun program. Is there somewhere online I can download it?
There certainly is, please follow this link to source the software in question : http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiax10?cc=au&lc=en
Thanks, I'll try that when I get home from work and see what happens. I did pull the battery out and it seems to have calmed it down for now, I just hope it's just a bug that can by fixed by the repair tool.
Having to reply on an alternative account as my main one won't let me sign into the forum for some reason - after performing the repair and setting the phone back up, the battery has been lasting for 4 days even with playing games/browsing the internet/using Twitter etc. It's also performing better than ever! Thanks for all your help.
My lucky day. I'm having the same problems.. But my Pc companion can't connect to the phone, when I'm asked to swith to mediatransfer. Then it says " installing your phone" and after a short while it stops telling me that it can't connect. I have Xperia Play as well, and found out that there were an update a couple of days ago, which I installed as well. The troubleshooter guide gave me a hint that maybe Windows need an update, as it seems 2 of the usb drivers wasn't installed properly. So I'll give it a try.
I was amazed how long my phone could last the first 4 days, and then it just went hungry as well. So I hope this works, ^^
I have the same problem once phone is charged to 100 % i then unplug from mains to use on battery the phone says it still charging via ac adaptor with lightening bolt in battery gage how can a phone charge from no power source the only way to fix this is to restart phone then it stops saying its charging and it says what it should say which is distarging ive even put a post up about it but know one has answered it. I HAVE USED PC COMPION TOOK BATTERY OUT DONE A SYSTEM REINSTALL ITS STILL DOING THE SAME THING IS THIS A BUG OR HARDWAERE COS IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO 3 PEOPLE THEN SONY HAVE A PROBLEM I EVEN UPDATED SOFTWERE I THINK THATS WHEN PROBLEMS STARTED NOT SURE ANYONE ELSE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM IF SO LET ME KNOW COS SONY ARE NOT
Guys if your having problems with PC companion like i did for a long time, make sure you have the latest version of .Net microsoft framework and Microsoft visual C++ 2008 redistributable.
Easier way to do it is just make sure you have the latest Microsoft Updates as everything will be in there you need will be in there, after updates i had no problem downloading and installing Media Go to transfer my music over to my phone.
Hope that helps.
