Storage problems

I am having some problems with the storage on my phone. When I try to download updates, I receive the message that there is insufficient storage left on my phone.

The problem is that I am unable to find correct information about the device memory. It only says "calculating" and doesn't seem to be able to do anything. I left it on for hours and it still said "calculating".  I am also experiencing problems with uninstalling apps

I have of course tried to turn the phone off and on several times, but it seems absolutely hopeless to try and figure out the use of storage on my phone.. Any hints please?

Try this 

1. settings > apps > all > look for instagram, facebook, any music/video streaming app and clear cache > restart your phone

2. what happen when you try to uninstall apps?

I am not able to clear cache. When I open App info on Instagram, it just says "Computing". I am not aloud to press the button for "Clear cache".

When I try to uninstall apps it says "Uninstalling" for several minutes, but nothing really happens..
