Android 2.1 Upgrade Instructions
The Android 2.1 Update provides a range of new features and enhancements for your Sony Ericsson Android product, to update your handset please follow the below instructions :

1- HOW TO CHECK FOR UPDATES
The Android 2.1 update is network or operator dependent and subject to thier approval process before we can provide the update to customers on this basis we are unable to provice specific availability information, However to check availability from your handset simply select
About Phone> Software Update>Update Now
This process will check the availability of new software for your handset, if a new update is available please proceed with the instructions displayed or if updating with android 2.1 please use the below process:
2- BACKUP and RESTORE
If updating from android 2.1 from Android 1.6 you will need to download a specific back up and restore application for your phone via the internet simply follow these instructions :
Select browsers > m.sonyericsson.com/backup > go
NOTE : Do not use the back up and restore application supplied with android 1.6 as this is not fully compatible with the 2.1 Update)
This will automatically open the browser download window > When download is complete tap on download and from the install screen select install.
Once installation is complete open the applications bar (from the main screen push up from the bottom of the screen) and select the back up and restore application. Once the application has started select the "Backup" Option.
This will save a copy of the below content to the memory card of the handset which can be restored once the android 2.1 update is complete.
-Market applications (backed up as links to Market)
-Play Now application
-Bookmarks
-Call log
-Contacts
-SMS and MMS messages
-System settings
NOTE: Pictures, music, videos and other files are stored on your phone´s SD card. They won´t be lost – they are not affected by the upgrade and therefore not backed up.
Note: Application settings, calendar data and user dictionaries are not kept in your phone after the upgrade.
2- UPDATING TO ANDROID 2.1
To update your handset to android 2.1 please follow the below instructions
What you will need
- PC Computer
- Internet Access (Preferably Broadband)
- USB Cable
- Handset
Step 1: You will need to download the Sony Ericsson Update Service, to download the application and for installation instructions please follow the below web link and from the left hand column select your phone model :

Installation instructions
- Download the installation package to a temporary folder on your PC.
- Run the downloaded file, and follow the instructions that appear.
How to use
-Double-click on the Update Service icon on the desktop.
- Let Update Service access the Internet to download content needed to run the service (Internet access may be blocked by your firewall settings).
- Follow the instructions that appear.
