Sony Z crashed while updating to 4.1 and cannot restart to try again

Dear All,

just attempted to update my wife's Z to Android 4.1 using the Sony PC Companion.

For some reason it crashed during the process, maybe 20 minutes in and now the Z is not able to reboot.

Only get this Sony logo screen below and only one vibration after holding the power button,

not the 3 as mentioned after 10 seconds of holding down the power button.

Repair your phone using sony update service http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/

Once it gets installed open it select xperia z from the list follow the steps and when the update service tells you to connect your phone press volume down and connect the usb cable simultaneously (you don't have to switch your phone on)

after numerous attempts the phone is not able to connect (volume down - insert mini usb) to restart the update.

Did you follow the steps i told you?

When sony update service tells you to connect your phone, connect the usb cable while pressing the volume down key, don't release the key till the software repair starts

Hi Arjun,

after I read another semirelated post, that mentioned restarting the PC was advised after installing the repair program, before connecting, I tried that and the phone finally connected with the PC and it is downloading the update now. I hope it works and will post if all went well!
