Sony Xperia E1 headset issue

Hii, 

    I have been using Sony Xperia E1 for the past 1 month and I have an issue with my headphones. Whenever I plug them in, the sound is very low. Is that ok or there is a problem with my handset ?

    Also, I have a Nokia headphone (3.5mm Jack) and when I plug it in my Xperia E1, it doesn't work. Am I missing something here?
