rSAP

Hello everybody,
I am a bit concerned about the fact that the rSAP Bluetooth protocol is mentioned in the manual but has no functionality when I try to connect the phone to my speakerphone. The phone uses the HFP connection instead of the rSAP protocol.

The hands-free equipment in my car supports rSAP.

Does that only happen to me?

Looking forward to hear more from you.

@Markus2

You might want to contact Sony directly on this question Local support

Hello!

A question, what version is your SAP/rSAP? Also, having a SAP "ready" device doesn't means that it fully support it. Are you sure that your car has the telephony/antenna kit installed?

Just to clarify, you are talking about performing calls and managing telephony entirely using your car stereo, right? Not only listening music.

Edit: rSAP/SAP is not mentioned in the Manual, at least not in my Manual, there is an app to verify if everything is installed correctly and this app is stating that rSAP is not installed properly in the C5. There is a guide to install it though, you can have a look at this app created by the Android rSAP foundation:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.BluetoothRSAP&hl=en

However beware, in order to install the necessary support files you'll have to root your device.

Hi YoGem,

Thx for your reply.

Yes, I am talking about performing calls and managing telephony entirely using my car stereo. RSAP used to work with my previous phone (HTC 5000, rooted & rSAP app installed) and also works with my wife's Samsung S6 and my junior's HTC One m9 - without any issues.

Following the URL to my manual:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz_977MZQjsDRi1VSnhOcEQ5LVJDMW5saFl1bGtIWlF5amlz/view?usp=docslist_...

How do we proceed?

Ok, so the white paper is about the dual but I suppose that it's the same for the C5 ultra, however when I try to run the rsap app and run it I get a warning message telling me that the rsap is not configured correctly. So my guess is that sap is not fully implemented.

I repeat, there is a fix however rooting is actually not possible and anyway will void the warranty.

Thx, for your reply.

It makes sense to me and I assume that you are right when you say that for some reason the rSAP Bluetooth protocol is not completely implemented.

I think I'll wait for the upcoming software android update.
Hope dies last 😉

Thx to all.

Any news on this wrt the latest MM update?
Does it work?

I got it working - rSAP is now running on my phone without any hiccups.

All I had to do was root my phone (I did it with KINGO root for Windows, the android app did not work) after successfully rooting, I deinstalled the superuser from KINGO and installed the app superSU; an extremely important step!

The rest was done by downloading the rSAP app from the Google store, followed by the installation.

Check the attached Screenshots.

Good to know you got it working, I knew it was going to be possible via root.

And thank you for taking the time to update this thread!!! This may help others fellow users who may have the same issue!
